What to know upon Arrival FOR HIGH HOLY DAYS

Covid and mask Policy:

Current as of 9/20/23: Because of significant rising rates of COVID in our community, Temple Hillel B’nai Torah strongly recommends, but does not require, our members and guests to wear a mask in the sanctuary for all Yom Kippur services. KN95 masks will be available in the lobby and from the ushers. If a mask is very uncomfortable for you, we encourage taking short breaks with it off if necessary, but keeping it on as much as possible.

Please wear masks on the bimah except when you are actively giving a reading, talking, or chanting.

If you are not feeling well on Yom Kippur, please stay home. The zoom link will be sent to all registered guests.

The sanctuary will have several HEPA filters placed throughout the room, as well as our upgraded HVAC system, completely filtering the air at least once per hour.

Sanctuary Seating

We do not have assigned seats. For any kind of accommodations, please contact Benita: 617-323-0486

Music

There will be guitar throughout our High Holy Day services. The HBT band will be helping to lead prayers at the beginning of the Rosh Hashanah Day 1 service - make sure to come on time so you don’t miss them!

HBT is a Fragrance Free Facility

We would like our space to be safe for those with sensitivities and allergies to fragrances, so please refrain from wearing fragrances and strongly scented products when entering the HBT building.

Name Tags

If you have registered to be with us in person for the High Holy Days, your name tag will be ready in a badge holder when you arrive at HBT. Name tags make for a friendly environment and help with security. Please keep your name tag on at all times while in the building.

  • Name tags will be located at a table on the sidewalk in front of the main entrance.

  • Name tags will be organized by LAST name in alphabetical order. Member and Non-Member tags will be separate.

  • Announce your name to the greeter at the table, who will then give you your name tag.

  • Proceed to the lobby doors where a greeter will check that you are wearing your name tag and welcome you inside.

Children

We love your children, and they are welcome anywhere that Jewish prayer and ritual is happening! See the schedule for programming info. If you are interested in free childcare for kids under 8, when registering either online or via mail, fill out the Childcare RSVP Form, or if your plans have changed, email HBT member Janna or come down to the Social Hall to sign in the day of the service.

If you want to volunteer to provide childcare, please fill out the Childcare Volunteer Form.

We also have aged-based children & teen programming on the first day of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur.
