Beginning our Healing Together

Rabbi Emerita Barbara Penzner led a meaningful activity on January 28 with 50 people in attendance at the temple. The event was designed to help the HBT community members express their feelings in a safe space about October 7 and what has happened since and enhance our bonds with one another. Attendees had an opportunity to talk in small groups, read poetry, light candles, and sing. Many reported that they found the opportunity to talk and listen very comforting.

One of the exercises was based on Journalist Michele Norris's new book (see TheRaceCard - Michele Norris). We asked the participants to describe in a six-word sentence what they are feeling or thinking since October 7, 2023.

We would like to open up this exercise to the entire congregation. Please send your six-word sentence/prayer/poem to Craig at craigdschneider@comcast.net by Sunday, February 11. Each submission will remain anonymous - you can also drop your six-word notes in the Temple office if you prefer. We’ll compile all the responses and determine how best to share these thoughts with the HBT community.

The Lifelong Learning Committee is interested in your ideas on programs that can continue the wonderful healing work that was accomplished at the January 28 event. Please contact Co-Chairs Laurie Rotman (laurie0406@gmail.com) or Shelley Stevens (shelleystevens34@gmail.com) with your thoughts. Thanks!
