Yom HaShoah Moment for Ma'ariv

Zoom only

In observance of Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, we are privileged to have a guest speaker on Zoom on the evening of May 6, immediately following Moment for Ma’ariv. For about 30 minutes, we will hear from renowned writer, Helen Epstein. Helen produced landmark research and writing about the multi-generational trauma of the Shoah. The Ma'ariv service will also include readings to mark the observance, and will conclude with a special kaddish.

Born in Prague in 1947, educated in New York City, author Helen Epstein is a graduate of Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Her first job as a journalist was for the Jerusalem Post. She is best known for her arts journalism in the Sunday New York Times and her non-fiction trilogy Children of the Holocaust; Where She Came From; and The Long Half-Lives of Love and Trauma. Most recently, she rediscovered, edited, and published her mother’s memoir Franci’s War.
