Who We Are
Temple Hillel B’nai Torah (HBT) is a Reconstructionist synagogue in West Roxbury made up of Jews of all backgrounds, interfaith families, LGBTQ+ individuals, multigenerational households, people of all abilities, and those who seek to explore and live Jewish life.
We are a haimish (cozy, homey) community: rooted in Jewish tradition while deeply engaged with the world around us. Together we pray, celebrate, learn, and act for justice — creating Jewish life that is meaningful in today’s world.
Meet Our Rabbi
Rabbi Aliza Schwartz joined HBT in 2024. She brings deep experience in Jewish social justice work in Greater Boston and previously served as the Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical Intern at Congregation Beit Simchat Torah in NYC. Ordained by the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in May 2024, Rabbi Aliza is already a deeply valued presence in our community.
“Over the past many months, it has become clear to me what a profoundly special community HBT is, and I am so excited to build together, pray together, act in the world together, learn together, and be with one another.”
