Jewish mass action in Washington DC to support the Dream Act
On January 17, 2018 Rabbi Penzner joined a group of 85 other Jewish leaders in civil disobedience in support of the brave immigrants who have been protesting to get a clean Dream Act through Congress.
In the weeks when we read the story of the Exodus, we are reminded how many in the Jewish community have stories of our ancestors who were Dreamers.
Sponsored by Bend the Arc Jewish Action and many other Jewish groups, the protesters sat in the rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building, surrounded by 100 Dreamers (in orange caps) before being arrested. The rabbi is returned home Thursday.
Because our Rabbi represented us in the Halls of Congress, she is calling on us to take action on behalf of the Dreamers. After you watch the video(s) please call your members of Congress at 1-888-778-6856 and urge them to do the right thing to pass a clean Dream Act now. If you use social media to publicize the work on behalf of the Dreamers, use the hashtag #dreamactnow
